What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Whitianga. They wrote...

"Expats in Whitianga may find the laid-back and relaxed pace of life challenging, especially if they are used to a fast-paced, high-stress environment. The local dialect and slang can also be difficult to understand for those not familiar with New Zealand English. Some expats may struggle with the isolation, as Whitianga is a small town located on the Coromandel Peninsula, far from major cities. The cost of living can also be high, particularly for housing, which may be a challenge for expats used to lower costs in their home country. Lastly, the weather can be unpredictable, with frequent rain and wind, which may be a challenge for those used to more stable climates," remarked another expat who made the move to Whitianga, New Zealand.
