What is it like to retire in Cha-am?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees what it is like retiring in Cha-am. They said...

"Life for a retiree in Cha-am can be quite relaxed and enjoyable. The town is known for its long, beautiful beach where retirees can spend their days lounging, swimming, or participating in water sports. There's also a lively market where one can buy fresh produce, seafood, and local crafts. Cha-am is home to a significant expat community, which includes many retirees from Europe and North America. This community often organizes social events and activities, providing a great opportunity for newcomers to make friends and feel at home. Culturally, Cha-am and its surroundings offer a lot to explore. There are several temples in the area, including the striking Wat Neran Chararam, which houses a large statue of a six-armed Buddha. The Maruekhathaiyawan Palace, a former royal summer residence, is another must-visit site. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, there are several golf courses in the vicinity, as well as national parks like Kaeng Krachan, which is perfect for hiking and bird watching. Nightlife in Cha-am is relatively quiet compared to other Thai destinations like Bangkok or Pattaya. However, there are still plenty of options for those who enjoy a night out. The beachfront area is dotted with bars and restaurants, many of which offer live music. There are also several night markets where one can shop for local goods and enjoy street food. Overall, Cha-am offers a peaceful yet engaging lifestyle for retirees, with its mix of natural beauty, cultural attractions, and friendly expat community," remarked another expat who made the move to Cha-am, Thailand.
