"Retiring in Guilin offers an idyllic lifestyle. Many expats visit or settle in the surrounding area, and there are many activities available to occupy those looking to enjoy their retirement. Cultural attractions include world-famous limestone karst formations in Yangshuo, the ancient city of Longsheng and its surrounding rice terraces, the green hills of Linghersi and its Buddhist monastery, as well as its caves and waterfalls that are perfect for exploring. Shopping and recreation such as golfing and hiking can be found around the city. Numerous cafes, restaurants and bars can provide a taste of the city's nightlife. The local climate is mild and humid with temperatures ranging from 71-77 degrees Fahrenheit, making it ideal for outdoor activities year-round. The cost of living is relatively low and the people of Guilin are friendly, making it an attractive place to retire," wrote a member who made the move to Guilin, China, China.
