It is important to research the cost of living and the options available for healthcare, as well as other essential services for daily living. It is recommended for expats to learn basic Mandarin Chinese as most locals do not speak English and learning the language will make it easier to navigate the city. Macao has a subtropical climate, with warm and humid summers and mild winters, so it is important to dress accordingly. Finally, becoming part of the local community and making friends will make the adjustment to the new way of life much easier," said one expat in Macao, China.
