Is the cost of living in Koh Lanta high?
We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in Koh Lanta, they wrote...
"The cost of living in Koh Lanta is relatively affordable compared to many Western countries. Rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center can be quite inexpensive, while outside the city center, it can be even cheaper. The cost of utilities such as electricity, heating, cooling, and water is also quite low. Groceries in Koh Lanta are reasonably priced, with local markets offering fresh produce, meat, and seafood at lower prices than supermarkets. Eating out is also quite affordable, with local street food being very cheap, while a meal at a mid-range restaurant can be a bit more expensive. Transportation costs are also low, with affordable options such as local buses, taxis, and motorbike rentals available. Gasoline prices are reasonable as well. Healthcare in Koh Lanta is also affordable, with both public and private hospitals offering services at lower costs than in many Western countries. However, it's important to note that while the cost of living is generally low, it can vary depending on lifestyle and personal spending habits. For example, frequent dining at high-end restaurants, staying at luxury resorts, or engaging in expensive activities can significantly increase living costs," explained one expat living in Koh Lanta, Thailand.
