What are healthcare services like in Kefalonia?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Kefalonia. They wrote...

"Healthcare services in Kefalonia are generally of a good standard, with a number of public and private healthcare facilities available. The island has a public hospital located in Argostoli, which provides a range of services including emergency care. There are also several health centers and pharmacies scattered across the island. Private healthcare is also available, with a number of private doctors and clinics operating in Kefalonia. These often offer a wider range of services and shorter waiting times than public facilities. However, they can be more expensive. Dental care is also readily available, with a number of private dental clinics operating on the island. Despite the good standard of healthcare, it is recommended that visitors have comprehensive health insurance to cover any potential medical costs. It's also worth noting that while healthcare staff are generally well-trained, English may not be their first language, which could potentially lead to communication difficulties," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Kefalonia, Greece.
