Are common prescription medications available in Punta del Diablo?
When we asked expats in Punta del Diablo if common prescription medications are available in Punta del Diablo, they wrote...
"In Punta del Diablo, common prescription medications can be found at local pharmacies or "farmacias." These pharmacies typically carry a range of medications for various health conditions, such as antibiotics, pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and medications for chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes. However, the availability of specific medications may vary, and it is always a good idea to bring a sufficient supply of any necessary prescription medications when traveling. Additionally, it is important to have a valid prescription from a licensed medical professional, as some pharmacies may require it before dispensing medication," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Punta del Diablo, Uruguay.
"I was a medical transcriptionist in my former life, so I pretty well know what I need to doctor myself. Here, you can get whatever you need if you know the generic drug name and can write it down. No prescription needed. Ex: I have fibromyalgia and occasionally use a muscle relaxer. I go ask for Flogene or Diclofenac, and done. Cost is about $10 for 30 tabs," commented one expat who made the move to Punta del Diablo, Uruguay.
