As a foreigner living in Hoi An, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Hoi An if they have access to public healthcare in Hoi An. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Hoi An, you will have access to public healthcare, but it's important to note that the quality and standards may not be the same as what you're used to in your home country. The public healthcare system in Vietnam is generally underfunded and overcrowded, with a lack of English-speaking staff. Many expats and long-term visitors choose to use private healthcare facilities, which offer a higher standard of care and more English-speaking staff. It's also worth noting that while public healthcare is inexpensive, private healthcare can be quite costly. Therefore, it's highly recommended to have comprehensive health insurance that covers medical evacuation, in case you need to be transported to a country with higher-quality medical care," remarked another expat who made the move to Hoi An, Vietnam.
