As a foreigner living in Addis Ababa, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Addis Ababa if they have access to public healthcare in Addis Ababa. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Addis Ababa, you will have access to public healthcare, but the quality and availability of services may not be up to the standards you are used to in your home country. Public healthcare facilities in Ethiopia are often overcrowded, understaffed, and may lack essential equipment and medications. It is common for foreigners and expatriates to seek private healthcare or travel to other countries for more advanced medical treatments. It is recommended to have comprehensive health insurance that covers medical evacuation in case of emergencies," said a member in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
