As a foreigner living in Hong Kong, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Hong Kong if they have access to public healthcare in Hong Kong. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Hong Kong, you will have access to public healthcare. The public healthcare system in Hong Kong is known for its high-quality services and affordable costs. It is heavily subsidized by the government, making it accessible to both residents and non-residents. However, you may experience longer waiting times for non-emergency treatments and specialist consultations due to the high demand for public healthcare services. Additionally, while most healthcare professionals in Hong Kong speak English, you may encounter some language barriers in public hospitals and clinics. Many expats and foreigners also opt for private healthcare services, which offer shorter waiting times and more personalized care but at a higher cost," wrote a member who made the move to Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
