As a foreigner living in Ampang, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Ampang if they have access to public healthcare in Ampang. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Ampang, you will have access to public healthcare, but it is important to note that public healthcare services are primarily catered to Malaysian citizens. Foreigners may be required to pay higher fees for medical treatments and services compared to locals. The public healthcare system in Malaysia is generally of good quality, with well-equipped hospitals and clinics, as well as qualified medical professionals. However, you may experience longer waiting times and less personalized care in public hospitals compared to private healthcare facilities. Many expatriates and foreigners in Malaysia opt for private healthcare services, which offer a wider range of treatments, shorter waiting times, and more personalized care, albeit at a higher cost. It is recommended to have comprehensive health insurance to cover the costs of private healthcare in Malaysia," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Ampang, Malaysia.
