What do people like (and dislike) about Amman?
When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Amman, they replied...
"Expats and digital nomads generally like living in Amman, for several reasons. They appreciate the friendly and hospitable locals who are welcoming to foreigners. The city offers a rich cultural experience, with historical sites, museums, and traditional markets. The cost of living is relatively affordable, with reasonable prices for housing, food, and transportation. The food scene in Amman is diverse and delicious, offering a wide range of local and international cuisines. The city is also considered safe and stable compared to other countries in the region. On the other hand, there are some aspects that expats and digital nomads may dislike about living in Amman. The traffic can be chaotic and frustrating, with congestion and limited public transportation options. The language barrier can be challenging for those who do not speak Arabic, although English is widely spoken in tourist areas and among younger generations. The bureaucracy and paperwork for visas and permits can be time-consuming and complicated. Additionally, the conservative culture may require some adjustments for those coming from more liberal societies, particularly in terms of dress code and social norms. Finally, the lack of green spaces and air pollution can be a downside for those seeking a more environmentally friendly lifestyle," explained one expat living in Amman, Jordan.
