We asked expats what residency documents or visas they need when settling in Colombia. They wrote...

"The only documents Colombia required were Apostilled Letters from Social Security and our passports. We received our 3-year Pensionado visas within 3 weeks, and our Cedulas a few weeks after that. The process was about a third the cost we paid in Panama, and that process took about 6 months and required two trips across country to Panama City," remarked another expat in Medellin, Colombia.

"If you plan to stay in Colombia for an extended period of time, you will need a residency visa. Depending on your country of origin and the purpose of your stay, you may need to apply for a Tourist Visa, a Temporary Residency Visa, a Student Visa, an Internship Visa, or an Investor Visa. You will also need to provide the appropriate supporting documents along with your visa application. Such documents include a valid passport, proof of health insurance, proof of employment, financial documents, and any relevant academic or criminal records," said a member in Colombia.
