Buying a house under QRP or not?

My husband and I are planning ahead to moving to Belize in about 3 years. I've been reading all I can on QRP, residency, etc.
Can anyone tell me what the advantages, if any to buying under QRP now vs buying now and applying for QRP later.
I meet the age requirements for QRP now, but my husband would like to possibly still work once he retires and not be restricted in what he can do. And would there be any issues with me applying for QRP on my own or am I required to list him as a dependent and then he automatically falls under my QRP?
I hope my questions make sense, we're just trying to figure out what would be our best way forward. Thank you!
