Good morning all!
My husband and 3 children live in Florida. We own a thriving business in what WAS a smaller town, but is exploding in retirees and others moving to Florida.
My husband has been working the job of 4 people for 20 years, and the mental toll it has taken on him is awful. I realize that the physical toll is coming and am terrified for him. The current political and economical climate in the US is also worrying. We have not visited Belize yet, but plan to soon to spend time and look at different areas to potentially live.
We homeschool our children but if good schools are near where we settle, I would not be at all opposed to entering them.
Our plan would be to sell our business and homes and find a small place in Belize. My husband is a highly trained mechanic, has his 200 ton captains license, and is also certified to teach scuba diving, among other things. I am currently writing childrens books as well as a painter. Our ultimate goal is to live a slower lifestyle and enjoy our time together in the world. I am interested in living more to the Cayo region where we could potentially be a bit more self sustainable, and not have to worry so much about costs of living without working full time, but still have electricity.
Can anyone offer any advice for a situation such as ours? I am looking into visiting for a week or two to look around, and would like to find a lawyer or company to assist us in our moving endeavor.
