I've combed all related threads here but there doesn't seem to be much relating to prenups. Most refer to prenups as it applies to a Colombiana going abroad to live/marry. That doesn't apply in my case as I have no intention of bringing my fiancee to Canada, only to visit for a couple of weeks. I did come across a couple of references to "separacion bienes raices". Is that the right term?
There isn't much in the way of property other than furniture. Rent is so cheap it makes no sense to buy. I can easily see buying a vehicle however. That would be the extent of material things. Spare cash wouldn't be kept in Colombia.
There must be members here who have done this under similar circumstances. Can you draw up something and have it notarized or is it an absolute must to have a lawyer? Does a prenup apply only to existing property? Or can it be worded to include assets acquired later on?
