How long can a U.S. citizen stay in Jamaica?

My fiancee, son and I are thinking about moving to Jamaica. We have both been several times and love the island. However, I am having a difficult time figuring out how long I can stay. If I am not a permanent resident (or citizen) then what is the maximum amount of time I can reside there? How long before I can come back? The ultimate goal would be to find employment there but not sure if that makes a difference in how long we are able to stay there. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
