Driving from Panama City to Boquete -

Hi All,
I will be visiting Panama and Boquete for the first time in late November 2010. As the cost for the three of us to fly from Panama City to David round trip is around $600, I thought we'd rent a car and drive. Anyone think this is a bad idea? Any suggestions or advise?
