How to move to Portugal as an American

Hi, I'm an American trying to move to Portugal and could use some assistance.

A little bit about me is I'm in the tech field (UX) based out of Chicago.

I would love to move to Europe and heard that Portugal may be one of the easier ways to do it.

My questions are where to start and what documents do I need to begin the process?
Is there an outline or roadmap on visa paperwork? How do I get a longterm visa?
And how was the process of getting a visa as an American?
