Weather-"proofing" your home

Hello all. Unlike last year when it rained more in Oct & Nov than I this year, suddenly one bedroom in our house is getting dark mold spots on the walls and light green mildew on wood furniture.

Our house normally gets blasted with sun all day, but this one room gets the least sun this time of year. We've researched fixes and read some recommendations against using bleach and other solutions, so we used vinegar to try to abolish the spots (so far so good).

Now we're looking for options to deter ideal growth conditions. Does anyone have recommendations based on what has worked / not worked for you? Special paint, ar condicionado Dehumidifier mode (assuming it's warm enough outside), electric dehumidifiers inside, cork insulation installed on the exterior wall(s), other, "open your windows!", etc... Obrigado in advance.
