Immigration Lawyer Referral

My family is retiring to Panama (Bocas del Toro) this coming year (August, 2004). I hear that I will need to hire a lawyer soon to begin the maze of paperwork required to obtain visas, ship goods, etc. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced, but competent, lawyer that I can hire for this purpose? Is hiring a lawyer the only way to go? What should I expect to pay and how long will it take? What other questions should I be asking?

Thanks!
