Having a Baby in Porto Alegre

Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul - the most southern state in Brazil - is a great place to live. It is a modern city with 1.5 million inhabitants, more trees than people, low pollution levels, a large variety of services and high quality hospitals and medical assistance. Some of our hospitals are as modern and well equipped as the best ones abroad.

The best maternities in the area are Moinhos de Vento (http://www.moinhos.net) and Mae de Deus (www.maededeus.com.br). They are both private hospitals that offer high quality medical assistance and caring attention to parents and babies. To help mothers/parents diminish the anxiety and concern during the pregnancy, both hospitals offer 8-day courses about having a healthy pregnancy and delivery, as well as advice on the proper care of the newborn.

Many foreign couples choose or plan to have babies in Brazil because of the quality of the medical services. However, it is also quite easy and much more affordable to hire nurses, qualified baby-sitters or maids to help taking care of the babies.

And, of course, VisitorsAssistants is here to show you the hospitals and maternities, supply you with a list of bi-lingual physicians, show you the stores that specialize in babies clothes and furniture, and help you with any other services you may need to make your stay in our country as pleasant as possible!
