When I moved to Asia four years ago I myself had this question. Look up Globalsurance or Pacific Prime insurance brokers because they work with a multitude of world wide insurance companies and they will have all the information will will need. I tried going to insurance companies directly and ended up over paying and under insured but with a broker I actually paid lower and got more. Last year I needed Hernia operation and the insurance plan i got through Globalsurance came through. A insurance agent waited for me at the hospital and gave me a private room for not one day but three. The room was like a 5 star hotel with cable Tv, room servive and all. Also no paper work I had to do and I didnt even have to make a payment (co payment) while I was at the hospital.

Hello there and I hope I can help you. I am from USA and I moved to Hong Kong four years ago. lucky for me I went through Globalsurance and flew to Asia with a good international insurance plan. First year in Hong Kong and I had to have a Hernia operation and the insurance worked well. I called them and they had a agent waiting for me at the entrance of the hospital. The agent got me a private room which was a lot better then the fancy hotels I stayed at when i first arrived in this city. try giving Globalsurance a call. good luck!

talking about insurance here, have you guys heard the news that Social Security benefits will increase? According to what I read, the Social Security benefits will go up by 3.6 percent in 2012 to adjust for the cost of living. This will be the very first increase in Social Security benefits in 3 years. The increase is good information for seniors in this slow economy. However, many will see much of that boost eaten by boosts in Medicare rates. Source for this article: Social Security benefits to increase for the first time since 2009
