Parent's Review of The New Zealand International School in Jakarta, Indonesia

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

The New Zealand International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Jakarta

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

K - 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Private Car, School Car

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Limited. Not of an international standard like Jakarta International School or British International School. Bare basics.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

There are definitely differences between this school and what our children learnt in schools back home. My kids say their friends don't really speak proper English, many Koreans, apparently, since NJIS closed.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

No. Not that I know of.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

If you want your children to improve their English because they come from a non-English as a first language speaking country then this is good for a six-month English course, and then most then go to Jakarta International School, British International School, Australia International School or ACG Jakarta. They're all accredited, whereas I don't think the New Zealand International School is actually accredited - they are just authorised to let students sit Cambridge International Exams, which is different.
