Exchanging downpayment money

Hello all, My family is planning to move Ireland in a year so were doing all the investigations on how to do it. I know the US Dollar isnt doing that great at the moment but still are looking at the move. We plan to sell our house here and money that money over. So the question is& How move the house money over and maximize the Euros wed get for it with out getting screwed by bank fees and the exchange rate&? We like know how others have done it or does every just take the beating when they first move.
