Greetings, I am seeking information on moving out of California and someplace where cost of living is reasonable compared to CA. I plan to take early retirement at the end of next year due to a work injury. I have travelled abroad before many times and believe I can make the transition. I made a list of what I am looking for in a new home such as someplace where you have access to all the seasons and weather. Sun, snow, rain, and so on. someplace with access to the beach, someplace with a lower cost of living than California(a big one). I made a list of about 15 countries that may fit my criteria but looking for suggestions and can compare them with mine. I definately want to take a little time off and see the place for myself early next year. I just don't have months at a time to do this. I have about a week and a half in February and about two weeks in summer of 2010 to see a location(s) in person. So I have to be very strategic about my decision. Also, chances I will be going alone with no furniture or anything like that to take, quite possibly just a backpack. For pastime love motorcycle riding(once I learn how to ride), Handball, Beachcombing, Hiking(national parks, mountains), bicycling. Don't care much for partying 24/7(I am approaching 50), like that kind of stuff on demand(albeit rarely). Also like being with the locals more than being in some gated community, like a bubble. thanks for the advise in advance.
