A "Thank You" goes a long way.

Thank you is a magic word. Do not know what generation ( the ME generation?) most of you are, but today received my second thank you after answering dozens of posts....here is my partial response

"The Good, the Bad and The Ugly"

"You're not in Kansas Anymore, Dorothy"

My pension is less than a $1000 a month and I save money, I have always lived frugally, of course when I arrived to Mexico and Guatemala 23 years ago had relatives, contacts, a ready made social network. The best thing for you to do is to travel to your target country or countries, backpacking and join the Hospex portals -------------------where bilingual locals will host you, meet up with you. Remember, in most small ex pat communities, Latin America, Asia, Europe, wherever, there is gossip, one up man ship, envy. Stick with locals when possible and find an ex pat mentor and get another newbie travel companion for support. Prices are rising everywhere these days and $------ won't get you a Condo and a maid. When you do meet ex pats traveling avoid the drunks, druggies, gossip mongers, real estate cons and stick with the winners.
Here is a list of ex pat websites, groups and communities worldwide.
------------------------
Even Better if you already have a close friend ex patting in SE Asia, Eastern Europe (Western Europe beyond your budget) or Latin America.
Still best to travel, show up, see for yourself and settle where you ar most comfortable. Move to a non English speaking country, once you make contacts start teaching English, volunteer a couple months or so, or if you have special skills you may find a job in humanitarian aid click on

Volunteering short term great way to make true friends. You'd be miserable in a "gated community" with boring Suzie and Joe Whiner for neighbors in Costa Rica.

Put on your backpack and GO!!!! You only got one life left to LIVE.

Advise me.

Good luck.

"Right Action leads to Right Thinking, Right Thinking does not necessarily lead to Right Actions" "Too much THINKING leads to STINKING THINKING"

People who gossip about others and smear others reputations are called
TOXIC PEOPLE......Avoid ‘em!!! Ran into one recently on this forum, smeared me personally, had th moderator delete his post. Tough, huh?

If you dislike my advices or cannot use them, just delete or pass them on. No big deal

Online
I get a lot more from a personal share than a copy and paste. I learn more from experience then from reading something written by some a-------- I don't know and, if I do read it, don't wanna know. I only coach, assist and give insider information in my region to those (with a few exceptions) who travel here in person, f2f, look em in the eye, shake their hand and read their body language.

On a low budget your best option is to visit the places youmay want to settle in.
