Question re driving to Chapala area

I am a widowed 65 yr old widow wanting to retire in the chapala area. I would like to take my car but would not feel safe driving by myself. Any suggestions on how to get it down there? Also would want to ship some of my furniture and personal items. Can anyone give me any advice about costs? Thanks.
