Baking Soda and Turmeric

After searching sporadically for these two items over the six weeks I have been in Quito (SuperMaxi, MegaMaxi, Mi Comisariat) I have had no luck. I am using the names, bicarbonato de sodio y cúrcuma, but I am met with blank stares. I can find baking powder and curry powder, but of course this is not the same. Any tips would be appreciated.
