retire to Sardinia Italy

Does anyone have recent information on what it's like to retire to Sardinia? I was there last Christmas with my husband and sister and absolutely loved it! We plan to buy something and build, as the infrastructure of existing buildings is not adequate for us. We plan on using solar panels for most or all of our electricity needs. And we need some land that has adequate well water and an orchard. Thinking of the east side of the island. Any and all information is most welcome.
