Bringing my wife with back to US for extended temporary stay

I am an American living overseas, however for my job I will be temporarily working in the US for approximately 6 months. During this time, I would like to bring my wife with me.

The K visa seems to be geared towards permanent residence, which is not necessarily something we are planning in the near future.

Do you have any experience with this type of situation, and what advice can you provide regarding visas and spouse travel to the US in general?
