3 1/2 year marriage, seperation and ongoing application PLEASE HELP
11 years ago
I am a Canadian and I have been married to an emotionally/sexually abusive husband for 3 1/2 years. I tried to leave many times but I never got farther than Brussels, because he said he would kill my family if I ever left him. Finally I left him but I had already applied for my permanant residence. I was told I would receive the confermation of seperation within the week. I applied for it in may 2012.
Norway is my home now, there is nothing for me in Canada. I got the highest marks in my norwegian class and essentially qualify for all of the criteria for permanent residence. I have a job. What should I do? The application takes 14 months to be assessed. When I get the separation paper, what do I do? Do I go to the udi and tell them, or do I wait it out until I get an answer on my application? I went to the udi and the man said *wait until you get it, write a letter of appeal describing everything you have told me, and you could get lucky. The worst thing that could happen is that you have to go back to Canada for 3 months and re-apply for some other visa*. That being said, I hear other opinions online. Can someone give me insight?
