Psychotherapist seeking employment advice
11 years ago
I read a blog that indicated that I might find help from people with info about moving to Costa Rica or some other warm climate countery. I am a(very young) 53 yr old dual licensed psychotherapist with a license to practice drug and alcohol counseling, with over 20 yrs experience, 4 degrees, and over 20 years besides that doing "field research" by which I mean an active alcoholic addict, which give me much more "cred" for the people I help. I have a successful private practice in MN and have had about enough of American culture and cold winters. I've been to CR twice, love the pura vida life and all that. I speak passable Spanish but not nearly enough to practice therapy. I'm very clear about the potential challenges and rewards. I'm single, no kids, and no connection to a family of origin to concern myself with. I can go on with info, but perhaps I'll stop here and ask you for advice on how to move forward, if only to get hired as a therapist, a drug/alcohol counselor, for which I would be VERY qualified and in high demand for a treatment center, as long as they'd accept English only for awhile. I'd move anywhere in the country. Okay, whaddya have to say?
Oh, and thanks a lot for taking the time to respond.
