ESL certification

I am researching getting certified to teach English as a second language as my employment strategy to move overseas somewhere. I am hoping for S. America, Peru or Ecuador perhaps. I am wondering what advice thoughts people have on ESL work as a viable means to support myself and hopefully retire in 15 - 20 years. I already have a teaching degree and many years experience as a youth program manager. Any thoughts on what ESL cert is most sought and what sort of job/ salary is reasonable to expect?
