I'd love to know more about what school is like for American expat students. Do many of them go to American schools or do they attend their local schools? Would they benefit from writing support in their English and History classes?

Hi and thank you for joining Expat Exchange!
Every situation is completely different based upon location, financial means, preference, etc.
Some cities have numerous options for international schools, some locations have none, and there are others that fall somewhere in between.
There are parents that want an international curriculum (such as the IB), some want an American or British curriculum, and others go local in order to get an authentic experience of living in a specific country, city, or other area.
I would recommend posting on one of our country forums if you have specific ideas in mind.
Thanks again for becoming part of Expat Exchange, and we hope we will share what you learn along the way with the rest of the community!

Thank you for this helpful information. Would you have a sense of which cities have the most students attending American schools? I imagine the capital cities and large ones, but any specific information is welcome! Thanks! Jane
