Hi everyone I’m posting this on behalf of my husband who is English. I am Romanian lived in the uk over 10 year and we have 2 beautiful daughters. We are considering to move to Romania but of course we would like to know what are my husband’s chances of finding a job ? He can speak some Romanian I would say maybe 50% and can understand a lot more since I only talk to my children in Romanian at home. He has been to Romanian loads of times and he is very used to the Romanian traditions /lifestyles. At the moment he work as a highway electrician but has studies of Business & Management. My family is from Rm Valcea and that would be the ideal place for us to live in but we are aware that most jobs are probably in Bucharest. Any information in regards to this would be beneficial for us. Thank you very much and look forwards to your answers ! :)

I'm from California. I've been living for eight months now in Romania, and recently lived in Edinburgh, Scotland twice. I move back to California in two weeks as was the original plan. For various reasons I would definitely not live in Romania permanently, and certainly not Cluj where I've been living. I had originally planned to live in Bucharest but had people strongly recommend I don't. The people in Romania are much warmer and more friendly than the Brits but given the choice I would choose Britain first, brexit or not. They have made much progress here but it's still eastern Europe and third world.

One more thing, visiting a country and living there are two very different things, can't emphasize this enough.

WilliamTodd : I think you missed what the woman said. She is from Ramnica Valcea which is about 160 Km from Bucharest and has family there. Their young children have been brought up using Romanian language at home and Husband speaks and understands partially. She is just asking about if anyone knows where he can work. She certainly knows what it is like to live there and the Husband must have a fairly good idea. I also lived there for about 5 months and several trips in and out of that area before that. My difference with you is I have Irish Passport so I have freedom of travel. Her husband can get residency very easily as she is Romanian, and he is EU citizen now. (Pre Brexit)
I would like to know from Monelusha what is a "Highway Electrician" ? Is that a licensed position in the UK ?
