The living overseas forum is a place for people contemplating an overseas move, but still deciding if they'll make the leap and where in the world to go. If you are interested in advice about what it's like to live in certain countries, please post on those countries' forums as you will get much better advice that way. Please take a few minutes to introduce yourself and tell us a bit about yourself.

My wife and I were Peace Corps Volunteers in Kenya from 1990-91 and worked in Africa from 1994-2003. We have traveled in Europe, Africa, Asia, Brazil and Mexico and are considering retiring between our Maryland home, Africa and Mexico. I am interested in learning about retirement destinations from Expat Exchange.

Hello, my husband and I are considering moving outside of the US when I retire in a few years. We are considering Costa Rica, Colombia, and Canada at the moment.

Right now I'm working on part time living in Cabo San Lucas. Looking for a couple of part time owners to share this new build condo I'm purchasing (Fractional ownership style) Not Timeshare, actual ownership with partners. My ultimate goal would be to spend 1-3 months in multiple locations - Don't like being tied down if you know what I mean.

I’m faced with a potentially underfunded retirement. Beach climates and locations are always a favorite but I jive in a beautiful, land-locked Colorado. We’ve spent 2-4 weeks in Puerto Vallarta for 20+ years. As much as we’ve fallen in love with the charm, people, weather and lifestyle of the area, we’re seeing its affordability quickly wane. Now that we might be in a position to spend several months a time in some location abroad we’re not sure where that might be.

I am a 65 year old American, semi-retired and considering fully retiring and moving abroad, whether full-time or part-time. My long-time partner is 63 and still working, but also ready and willing to retire abroad. I love hiking, cooking, reading and history; she loves the beach and making new friends.
We have traveled to Mexico several times and love it there but would also be open to other locations. Italy, Spain or Portugal are intriguing to us. We're unsure if full-time living abroad is for us, or if part-time would be feasible and/or preferable. We don't have grandkids but do have lots of siblings plus nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that we would still like to visit at least once or twice per year.

I write short stories, and I’m also a voiceover artist. I am mainly subscribing because I’d like to get fresh ideas about life in the many countries and islands that the subscribers here have lived or visited in order to enhance the realism in my short stories. I however, will not rule out moving to another country. This site will also serve as a source of education for me about life overseas.

I am a native of the Philippines particularly in the Southern part, Mindanao in Davao, Cotabato, Zamboanga, I lived for several years in these various places in Mindanao so I considered it as my whole native place although I spent my University days in Baguio City at the Northern Part of Luzon in the Philippines.
Currently studying MBA and Masters in Public Health at Torrens University Australia in Adelaide, South Australia.

I am a retired male who lives in the US (California), and likes to travel abroad for weeks and months at a time, who prefers to stay in one place to learn and experience the location and surroundings to some depth.

I have lived and worked for long periods (months to years) in several places in Europe and Asia and have also visited (mostly week long trips for work, and months as a tourist) many places including South America and Australian/New Zealand.

I have worked in Asia both in full time (Singapore) and part time (Japan, post retirement) positions for several years. I am a Japanophile, who loves to visit various parts destinations in the country every year. I am learning Japanese (around JLPT N2 level) and have enough of a grasp to get by on a day to day basis.

Interests include travel; languages; history; music, books & movies; arts & culture; architecture, and cuisine.
