Will I save money living in Guatemala?
"Living in Guatemala can be significantly cheaper than living in the United States. The cost of living in Guatemala is much lower than in the United States, with basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing costing significantly less. Additionally, the cost of entertainment and leisure activities is also much lower in Guatemala than in the United States. As a result, living in Guatemala can be a great way to save money compared to living in the United States," remarked one expat in Guatemala.
What is the average cost of housing in Guatemala?

"The cost of housing in Guatemala varies greatly depending on the location and type of housing. Generally, the cost of renting an apartment in Guatemala City is higher than in other parts of the country, with prices ranging from around $200 to $1,000 per month. Outside of the capital, the cost of renting an apartment is usually much lower, with prices ranging from around $50 to $500 per month. The cost of buying a house in Guatemala is also quite varied, with prices ranging from around $50,000 to $500,000," wrote a person living in Guatemala.
"Lower. It only cost US $13,000 to build a nice house. Electricity is about $40 a month and there is no running water," explained one expat living in Salama.

"The rental price for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Guatemala can range from around $400 to $800 per month, while a nice 2 bedroom apartment can range from around $600 to $1,200 per month," commented one expat who moved to Guatemala.
What appliances are typically included in a rental?
We asked foreigners in Guatemala what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:
"In Guatemala, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Other common appliances may include a microwave, dishwasher, and air conditioning unit. Depending on the property, some landlords may also provide furniture and other amenities," remarked one expat in Guatemala.
