Summary: A newcomer to New Jersey should begin their search by researching the different towns and cities in the state. They should consider factors such as cost of living, job opportunities, school districts, and local amenities. Once they have narrowed down their search, they can begin looking at specific homes for sale. Homes in New Jersey typically include amenities such as central air conditioning, hardwood floors, updated kitchens, and spacious yards. Many homes also have garages, decks, and patios. Some homes may also include features such as swimming pools, hot tubs, and fireplaces.

What do I need to know when buying property in New Jersey?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in New Jersey, they said:

"When buying property in New Jersey, it is important to research both the property and the surrounding area to ensure that it is suitable for your needs. It is also important to factor in any applicable taxes, in addition to any necessary home inspections and real estate fees. You should make sure that you understand the terms of any applicable warranties, and the timeline and costs associated with closing the sale. Additionally, be sure to familiarize yourself with any applicable state or local homeowner’s association (HOA) regulations. Finally, make sure to obtain title insurance to protect yourself against any issues with the previous owner’s title," said one foreigner living in New Jersey.
