Real Estate in Zambia

By Joshua Wood, LPC

Last updated on Jan 10, 2024

Summary: An expat looking to buy a home in Zambia should begin by researching the local real estate market. They should look for properties that meet their needs and budget, and contact a local real estate agent to help them find the right home. Foreigners are allowed to own property in Zambia, but they must obtain a permit from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. Homes in Zambia typically include basic amenities such as running water, electricity, and sanitation. Many homes also have access to internet and cable services. Depending on the location and price range, some homes may also include additional amenities such as swimming pools, gardens, and security systems.

How do I find a place to live in Zambia?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Zambia is to search online for rental listings. Websites such as Zameen.com, Zambia Property, and Zambia Real Estate are great resources for finding rental properties in Zambia. Additionally, you can also search for rental listings on classifieds websites such as Craigslist and Gumtree. Additionally, you can also contact local real estate agents who can help you find a suitable place to live in Zambia. Finally, you can also ask around in your local community for recommendations on rental properties," said one expat in Zambia.
