Real Estate in Moldova

By Joshua Wood, LPC

Last updated on Jan 06, 2024

Summary: An expat looking to buy a home in Moldova should begin by researching the local real estate market. They should look for listings on websites such as Zoopla, Rightmove, and Immobiliare.md. It is also important to contact a local real estate agent who can provide more detailed information about the properties available. Foreigners are allowed to purchase property in Moldova, however, they must obtain a residence permit in order to do so. This permit is valid for one year and can be renewed annually. Houses in Moldova typically include basic amenities such as running water, electricity, and gas. Many homes also have central heating, air conditioning, and internet access. Some properties may also include a garden, garage, or other outdoor space.

How do I find a place to live in Moldova?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Moldova is to search online for rental listings. Websites such as Imobiliare.md, Imot.md, and Casa.md are popular resources for finding rental properties in Moldova. Additionally, you can search for rental listings on social media platforms such as Facebook and Vkontakte. It is also possible to find a place to live in Moldova by asking around in your local community or by contacting a real estate agent," said one expat who made the move to Moldova.
