What do I need to know before moving to Repulse Bay?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Repulse Bay, they said:

"Repulse Bay is one of the most luxurious residential areas in Hong Kong, known for its high-end properties and beautiful beach. The cost of living in Repulse Bay is significantly higher than in other parts of Hong Kong, with rent for apartments and houses being particularly expensive. The area is home to a number of international schools, making it a popular choice for expat families with children. Public transportation in Repulse Bay is reliable and efficient, with regular bus services connecting the area to other parts of Hong Kong. Despite being a residential area, Repulse Bay has a good selection of restaurants, cafes, and shops, so you won't have to travel far for dining or shopping. The area is also home to several luxury hotels and resorts, which often have facilities such as gyms and swimming pools that are open to non-guests for a fee. Repulse Bay is a popular tourist destination, so it can get crowded, particularly on weekends and public holidays. The area is known for its outdoor activities, with opportunities for hiking, swimming, and water sports. While English is widely spoken in Hong Kong, learning some basic Cantonese phrases can be helpful. It's important to be aware of Hong Kong's strict waste disposal laws, which include fines for littering and illegal dumping. Healthcare in Hong Kong is of a high standard, but it can be expensive, so it's advisable to have comprehensive health insurance. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cool, dry winters, so it's important to be prepared for this when moving to Repulse Bay. Finally, while Repulse Bay is generally considered safe, it's still important to take standard precautions to protect your personal safety and belongings," wrote a member in Repulse Bay.
