The town is nestled in the mountains, offering a cooler climate than most parts of the country, which is a welcome relief for those who prefer milder temperatures. The natural beauty of the area, with its lush green landscapes, rivers, and waterfalls, provides ample opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and river rafting. There is a small but active expat community in Jarabacoa, mostly made up of retirees from North America and Europe. They often gather for social events, and there are also opportunities to volunteer in the local community, which can be a great way to integrate and make new friends. Culturally, Jarabacoa offers a rich Dominican experience. The local people are friendly and welcoming, and there are several festivals throughout the year that celebrate Dominican traditions and customs.
