What is it like to retire in Choiseul?
"Life for a retiree in Choiseul can be quite serene and fulfilling. The town is known for its rich cultural heritage, which is reflected in its numerous cultural attractions. Retirees can spend their days exploring the Choiseul Art Gallery, which showcases the work of local artists, or visiting the Choiseul Craft Centre, where they can learn about traditional Saint Lucian crafts. The surrounding area is also full of natural beauty, offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Retirees can enjoy hiking in the nearby rainforest, bird watching, or relaxing on the beautiful beaches. The Pitons, two volcanic spires that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are also nearby and offer breathtaking views. While Choiseul is not known for its nightlife, there are a few local bars and restaurants where retirees can enjoy a meal or a drink. The nearby town of Soufriere, however, offers more options for those seeking a vibrant nightlife scene. As for the expat community, while not as large as in some other Caribbean destinations, there is a small but active group of expats living in Saint Lucia. Many of them are retirees who have chosen to settle in the country for its laid-back lifestyle, beautiful scenery, and friendly locals. They often organize social events and activities, providing a sense of community for those living far from home," said one retiree in Choiseul.
