What is it like to retire in Braga?

"Life for a retiree in Braga can be quite pleasant and fulfilling. The city is known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture, offering a plethora of activities for retirees to enjoy. There are numerous historical sites to visit, including the Braga Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Portugal, and Bom Jesus do Monte, a sanctuary on a hilltop with breathtaking views. Braga also has a thriving expat community, making it easier for retirees from abroad to settle in and make new friends. There are various expat clubs and organizations that organize regular social events, providing opportunities for expats to meet and interact with each other. The city offers a variety of recreational activities as well. There are several beautiful parks and gardens where retirees can enjoy leisurely walks or picnics. The nearby Peneda-GerĂªs National Park offers opportunities for hiking and bird watching. For those who enjoy golf, there are several golf courses in and around Braga. Braga's cultural scene is quite vibrant, with numerous festivals and events taking place throughout the year. In terms of cost of living, Braga is quite affordable compared to other European cities. The healthcare system in Portugal is also excellent, which is an important consideration for retirees.
