What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Suchitoto. They wrote...

"Expats in Suchitoto often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a fast-paced, highly scheduled lifestyle. Additionally, the lack of certain amenities and conveniences that they may be used to from their home countries can be difficult to adjust to. The local cuisine, while delicious, can also be a challenge for some expats, especially those with dietary restrictions or particular food preferences. Lastly, understanding and navigating the local customs and social norms can also be a challenge for expats in Suchitoto," commented one expat who made the move to Suchitoto, El Salvador.
