Multiple visits - length of stay question

Hello,
My wife and I travel annually to Ireland from the U.S and we typically stay for 2-3 weeks at a time. We would like to travel to Ireland more often and for longer periods of time. I understand we can stay up to 90 days on our passports. So... if we stay for 90 days and return to the U.S., can we return in the same year a few months later for another 90 day stay?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
