How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Parents drive them. Some that live close may walk or bike.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The school is very small with limited outdoor facilities. There is a small sports area and some places to sit outside but not a lot for the amount of students (over 100) in such a small space. There is an excellent and free music program where children can play an instrument and get private lessons. The music teacher is wonderful.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Nothing. We received no extra support and found it difficult to communicate with the teachers and school. The communication between parents and teachers + administrators is very poor. We are not even given email addresses readily to ask them questions.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

No parent-teacher organisation. No community events bringing parents together. No volunteering activities for the kids at school. Parents self-organise activities but they are always inclusive. The school itself did not feel like an inclusive place for my child.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Look into other schools instead: Nobel and Aljezur are the only other international schools within a 30 minute radius. However, if you are British and looking to feel like you are still in Britain and not Portugal, you may enjoy the school as it is 85% British. The school lacks diversity and there is no integration with the local community or country in general. The teachers are largely not inspiring with some exceptions. The school is strict about the uniform. The school has terrible communication with parents.
