Foreigners in Israel can use their valid foreign driver's license for a certain period, after which they need to obtain a local driver's license. The rules are uniform across the country, with no differences based on city, state, or region.

Driving with a Foreign License

Foreigners can drive in Israel using their valid foreign driver's license for up to one year from the date of their last entry into Israel. After this period, they must obtain an Israeli driver's license.

Obtaining an Israeli Driver's License

The process for obtaining an Israeli driver's license involves several steps. Here is an organized list of the process:

Register with the Misrad Harishui (Ministry of Interior) to obtain an Israeli ID number (Teudat Zehut).
Schedule a doctor's appointment for a health declaration form (Form 502) confirming that you are fit to drive.
Pass the theoretical exam:
- Study the Israeli driving rules and regulations.
- Schedule the theoretical exam through the Misrad Harachtiyot (Ministry of Transport).
- Pass the exam, which is available in various languages.
Pass the practical driving exam:
- Schedule driving lessons with a certified driving instructor.
