Hello! My husband & I have come to the realization that there is no way we can live in the US on Social Security. We have found the prospect of moving to Costa Rica exciting, & are hopeful to be moving there in several years. Like so many other retirement age people here, we have a small pension, & will hopefully have enough in our retirement accounts to purchase a home or property in Costa Rica. THE PROBLEM - we. like so many folks our age, will still have a sizeable mortgage. There is no way we can pay it off by retirement. How many baby boomers have simply walked off & left their homes to foreclosure? It must be quite a few. THis is a topic that I heard come up on the news recently, & it got me wondering how others are handling the reality of not being able get out of debt before retirement. We drive 10 year old vehicles & do not use credit at all. It is just this mortgage that we felt we would have paid off!
